The purpose of the Education and Training Committee is to promote the participation and achievement of trainees in the field of Behavioral Neuroscience. Activities include fund raising efforts to assist student attendance and interaction at international meetings, and the design and implementation of training programs in the behavioral neurosciences, including summer courses and laboratory exchange programs.
Ethics Committee
The purpose of the Ethics Committee is to establish and continue to develop a dynamic code of ethics that defines the standards of professional conduct for members of the IBNS.
The purpose of the Ethics Committee is to develop guidelines for standards of professional conduct, including appropriate and responsible use of laboratory animals and humans in behavioral neuroscience research. The purpose of the Ethics Committee is not to address allegations of misconduct. However, the Committee may make recommendations to the President regarding membership revocation based on a public record of misconduct (e.g., if a member is found guilty of professional misconduct by an appropriate institution subsequent to a formal investigation).
Animal Use Committee
The Animal Use Committee is a consulting body available to advise members of the Society about issues, regulations, and practices relating to proper and humane care of experimental animals.
The Animal Use Committee is a consulting, data gathering, and educational body regarding issues relating to animal regulations, care, and use. The goal is to help members avoid unnecessary obstacles that might hinder their research efforts, but without compromising appropriate and humane treatment of experimental animals and research excellence. The education of individuals within and outside member institutions is an important aim of the Committee. Institutional guidelines, interpretations of more widely applied guidelines, and external pressures vary greatly for members of an international society such as IBNS. However, we seek to elucidate and recommend, where possible, general principles that might be applied to prevent difficulties experienced by scientists of all countries using animals in their research.
Program Committee
The function of the Program Committee is to coordinate and schedule the program of the annual meeting.
